weezer were one of my fave bands until rivers went and did that interview where he called all women sluts and his fans "annoying little fucking c**ts". plus i wish he'd shut up about his love of prostitutes, last time i checked paying for sex wasn't cool.
that said, their music is great and a lot of their videos are mint as well.

weezer was cool
not as in they are now no longer "cool" but as in the past 2 albums have sucked serious ball-age compared to blue, and Pinkerton (the godfather of Emo).
That being said, Green is catchy as hell, but it's severely unsatifying lyrically. At least Maladroit is interesting.

I agree with you millhouse, but I think most weezer fans say that blue and pinkerton are the best. But that is also true of heaps of bands( i think there is another thread on this). I don't think jebs new album (#3) is as good as the older stuff- but I am still a fan.

the difference between Jebs and Weezer is that there wasnt a large break between albums for jebediah, and kev's attitude towards writing lyrics doesn't seem to have changed as much as rivers "no-one liked my last album when it was released, so i burned the master tapes and now sing about tranvestite hookers" cuomo's.

rivers was obviously really upset about the failure of the album, but he also had to go through the trauma of his operation, which could be why it took so long to put out green. i think there is plenty of good stuff still to come from rivers..

fair point about the operation.
that being said, Pinkerton is 100% pure gold, and 50% was (i think) hanging around since before blue untill before his op, and 50% was post op. (most notebly, the good life).
Rivers didn't take criticism on personal lyrics too well, tho apparently he's re-recording some old songs while in the studio for number 5

the new songs for #5 are deeecent but like maladroit they will probably not include many of the better ones on the release

i dunno heath,
tribute nights can make someone aware of some local bands, even if they only headed to the night to see some no doubt shitty covers of their favourite band's tunes...
weren't you at the Ash tribute night BTW?

Can't remember going to a tribute night for a long time millhouse. And people use your reasoning to justify being in cover bands as well.

people shouldnt use that reason to justify cover bands, because at least at tribute nights (besides the few covers most bands play) the bands play originals, meaning you could enjoy a band you wouldn't have otherwise seen.
maybe you were just at the amps after Ten Speed Racer finished...
