hey stranger fancy seeing you here eh? As the only person in Australia who owns the last two Bush albums ahh, au contraire dear fletch - i have and like 'em both, 'jesus online' is a great song and i'm not denying that there are moments of brilliance on each album. just personally i thought that the first two gelled a whole lot better and had a drier sound, which is my kinda deal. nimrod had some damn fine tunes on it, if they'd cut the 18 songs down to 11 they could have had a fantastic record on their hands. that's my two cents anyway, disagree heartily if you feel the need i'm with you on everything else though, esp. the cranberries and live.

Blink 182 - Dude Ranch was good, Enema was okay for the fact that it got me into music again, TOYPAJ was dismal.
Foo Fighters - Like Sam said, (and Aaron knows this) I didn't think too much of some of the songs on there (Burn Away, Dissenchanted Lullaby, Have it all), but its a pretty good album all in all, bar Halo.
ODS - Boardgame EP ruled. I can't believe I even purchased 8 days away.
Jebediah - Admittedly I didn't mind #3, but it did seem to lack in parts compared to shambles and odway
The Living End - Self titled was great, Roll on not so great.
Green Day - They sucked anyway.

agreement on the greenday and blink definately...the stuff off chesire cat ect fpr blink had a certain something to it even if that something wasnt the most amazing musical breakthrough ever. and dookie was a great cd! better than nimrod...which didnt capture as much as the previous. ive heard a few tracks off imsomniac and that stuff is pretty good too... eskimo joe definately...

i might get shot for saying this but, here goes... Silverchair - frogstomp and freak show were great...i dont even know the name of the cd that was released after that, but i disliked it a fair bit...they're ok now, but i reckon they've gone a bit too soft that was my nomination for this topic too.used to love silverchair in the old days and they just give me the irrits now

I deserve to lose my tongue for this but; Hole - Apart from all the Courtney Love shit I don't mind some of the bands earlier stuff, songs like Turpantine ect even Live Through This wasn't so bad. However the shit hit the fan so to say with Celebrity Skin, although this album is responcible for my interest in music once I got the bands other stuff it ceased to be played.
Greenday - I don't have any of their older albums but I do have Warning which of course is shite. I forgot I even had it until I came to this thread.
Silverchair - Diorama appears to me to be an album that the band made after they had lost their interest in music. It seems to me to be based on the need for anouther album and is very thought out but the heart seems to be missing.
Nick Cave - I don't mind Nick Cave, especially his older stuff, even some of the older Bad Seeds isn't so bad (ok it's what I was refering to, I don't have any thing by the other two bands) however the newer stuff e.g Pure White Snow is a huge step down for him.
Spiderbait - What happened to this band? They used to be up there with the Jebediahs, Grinspoons ect but now I think they released a single last year or the year before but nothing came of it. Or did it and I just don't knw about it?
Most bands olderstuff is regarded as being better than their new stuff by most people.

all true, i guess acts have to change slightly or people get bored, and if they change too much then they lose the fans who liked the old stuff, bit of a catch 22

Hey Sar Fancy indeed... I clearly forgot to mention Spiderbait - there's another band who went tits-up with frankly alarming speed. I saw your avatar and was wondering, do you know how Mogwai's new stuff is going? Cool, another Mogwai fan They may well be my favourite band in the entire universe. Ahhhh...their new album is coming out on June 9, in the UK at least. It's called Happy Songs For Happy People. The band themselves say it is "41 minutes and 50 seconds of total unadulterated brilliance." I don't doubt them one little bit. Mogwai - a band who will NEVER suck.

Except they will forever (alogn with godspeed) live in the shadow of the highly overrated Sigur Ros.

i havent even purchased shoot this, its the most dissapointing album ive heard in a long time. i still cant get over how they did a complete 180 degree change in musical direction
the EP is 100 percent rock! totally awesome stuff, chromakey and fluke!
five star laundry is a simnply a flawless album amazing
no matter what happens with the band in the future, they can never take away those two releases (or the bsides to death defy single "end is real" is soooo good!) the thing with them is they struggled for many years, so whent he opportunity arrises for succes they do what they can. I just dont see why a song like keeping secrets is more popular than hey driver or criminal past?
it seems that a lot of bands are evolving which means changing there musical direction. More often than not this is for the worse. bar the few exceptions, grinspoon for example.
i spose you cant expect bands to keep making the same albums, even though you want them too.
dr everlong, your genre casting thing is the best!~ the website is now gone! ; ( whats going on?
