no thier not gonna say thanks president bush for not declaring war on us , but i am sure the people of their countiries would be gratefull that the usa didnt blow up thier homes and kill inocent people you do realise iraq tested chemical weapons on their own people? what would be better, letting this continue and innocent people getting hurt deliberately for no reason, or have U.S. invade and have a risk of civilian casualties, with a chance of freedom? |

on the news last night they showed young iraqi schoolgirls being taught by their teacher how to 'prepare for war'. they had them all lined up in their uniforms, getting ready to pull off whatever task/move/stunt was required to supposedly protect them should they get bombed.
the fact that this is a reality in the world of those children is just too fucking sad and wrong. they have done nothing and they are the ones that are going to get killed.
i don't know what america is supposed to do, but you cannot and i mean CAN FUCKING NOT justify killing innocent civilians just because big bad saddam has weapons which might wipe you out should he choose to use them. if attacked then sure, fight for your country. but to just jump in and declare war with fucking zero consideration for the civilians is stupid and wrong. there is a difference between defending yourself and just jumping in gung-ho and waving your missiles about, because you're scared someone else has the power to equal your own country in terms of warfare.

fair enough but i tell you this.
it is all very easy for us to sit in our comfort zones and give opinions. we've all got our arses parked on chairs and an internet connection, we're not out there getting educated about what to do when USA bombs us next week. i just think people should put themselves in other's shoes... what about if we were ready to get nuked, and it was the iraqi kids saying "well people are gonna die somewhere, may as well be australia"?
i've got friends and relatives who've been packed up and shipped off at the command of King Dick. maybe that makes me biased but i tell you what. we have not been attacked as a country, so why should our troops be off fighting bush's war? i know this is removed from the whole anti/pro-war thing but i'm just saying that war draws everyone in, it's not just a simple thing, australian soldiers could and most likely will die fighting in this. and yeah it's their job but armed forces are meant to protect their country, not destroy another because their fuckwad leader is busy shaking greasy hands with Big Ole President.
war should be the absolute last possible outcome and it's my belief that they haven't looked hard enough for a way around this. if you think war's a good thing then just imagine it's you over there in iraq, not knowing when you're going to get blown to smitherines. they are innocent like us, their lives should not be taken just because they were born on a different continent.

I live near enough to Lucas Heights nuclear reactor that if it was bombed i would die instantly  but hey it would be better than a long slow death. but on the plus side they do alot of good medical research. |
