a bit of a surprise that minutes made an apperance in the net 50 last week.
I reakon we should all vote for it to let people no that gleesides even exists. Cos it's not getting any support.
+ its a top little song

personally, i think minutes is average.
i mean, i can see why it got killed at the demo stage for #3, it kinda sounds half-complete... well, at least the lyrics do...
why support something that the band don't even seem to care about...

Minutes is okay, I like the guitar work. Vocals are flat as hell, though.

why support something that the band don't even seem to care about... fuck that..they obviously care a little if they released it at all. and the more radio play the better. i think minutes is cool. its nothing over the top and its not trying to do anything. its just a catchy song. vote! |

fuck that..they obviously care a little if they released it at all. yeah.... considering how much i'm assuming jebs owe sony (recording albums ain't cheap, ya know!), i'm sure gleesides was released coz they love us. now, dont get me wrong, im as big a jebs fan as anyone, and i figure that by buying gleesides, not only am i getting two new tracks, i'm also helping a bad continue to make new music. but the fact is, gleesides was sooooo not about the love. if a song gets cut (from even being recorded for the album, let alone selection for the album) its probably not that greater song. period. now jebs owe sony money, and probably more albums (don't know the contract they signed, so i don't know how many), but - either way - gleesides is another album as far as contracts go (one that cost very little - artwork done in a room smelling of beer, and 2 tracks recorded in perth? not a big investment really) and another way for jebs to work off some of the cash they owe sony. |

I believe people get a little too caught up in releases, record company decisions and speculation of what it all means.
In the end its just music and its just moments and i think minutes is just a song just a moment, i just happen to like it and wish to share it with people who are unaware of it.

hey, i reckon minutes is pretty cool, but it didn't even make the cut to be recorded for #3.
doesnt make it totally shit, but jebs must have had their reasons for it not being in the top 14 to be recorded...
monument was recorded in the odway sessions.
monument is more comparable to Hey Presto! or Less Trusted, and not Minutes (at least, by when it was recorded...)

But from an artists perspective, they get contracted to make music that sells. If you can't make music that sells then your contract details get brought up. IE not making enough record sales to meet your contract agreement. Im not saying Jebs dont do it for the fans, true their record sales have dropped a fair bit since their first two albums so Sony would be saying "U signed a contract...........where's our money??" Therefore you do what you can to produce that money. Fair enough some music isn't what we all want to hear, but from a business perspective it's gotta be done or you won't meet your contract agreement. The legal side of music is fukn ugly. You sell records or ur fuked n in a lot of debt. Despite all your fans, you gotta make the $$ to stay alive and make a living out of music or ur screwed. |
