Well said Malloy.
I'm not saying that Gleesides isn't good. I think it's fantastic.
But the fact the remains that it was (oh so most likely) done for the business side of music, rather than the art side.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, I mean heck, art costs money.

i'm gonna have to disagree to some extent.
i find all this talk about filling out contract obligations and money making a little... strange, considering that the whole initial idea of this release was brought about due to boardies discussing how great it would be. i'd even go so far to say that the idea of releasing a rarities album had nary entered the heads of kev and co. until it was presented to them on a silver platter [or as the case may be, a HMJ thread.] am i the only one who thinks that they actually put this record out because we asked 'em to?
i don't think they're in a position where they need to be racking up release numbers... their new songs are fantastic, and the ha ha's show that kevin's certainly not suffering from any lull when it comes to songwriting. even the suggestion that gleesides... is a nice way of getting another record off the contract is - in my opinion - a bit hard to swallow. shoot me for it if you will. but a] we have no idea how many albums they've signed on for, and b] they've got plenty of grunt left in them yet! on the other hand, i can see your point about how it would have been a not-overly-expensive operation and therefore a good way of shifting some dollars for not a large amount of output.

in reality, i don't think it matters how much better jebediah's songs are. yesterday when I was brave is leaps and bounds from leaving home.
does that matter to the record company? probably not as much as much as the fact that leaving home sold god knows how many copies of slightly odway.
and that's the quintesential-truth, ruth.

I'd have to agree with Millhouse. I don't think their new songs are that fantastic, but I have faith in them still. I know they can write another good album or two. I wouldn't be a fan if I'd lost all hope.
