what a yawn of a line-up... bring on the next announcement and i may just go.
sparta + mogwai are only ones of interest for me. seen all the australian bands before, and some of the OS bands too.

Who cares? I don't care if you've seen Muse before, they'd be great to see again..from the clips I've seen they go off live..I hope they get announced. If Mogwai and Sparta do club shows that would make me happier, but if they don't then they are the reason for my ticket.

i'm indifferent to the line up so far. sparta i'm looking forward to and i like what i know from mogwai. oasis will probably go down as one of those bands who it'll be good to be able to say that you've seen, but they'll also probably bore more. as for the other international bands..bleh. the australian bands...powderfinger, grinspoon, george, sfk, mgf, ma, bodyjar...fucken hell, move over. we get the same aussie bands for festivals all the time, hell i wouldn't be suprised if jebediah get added. it's really about time some promoters let the next level of australian bands step up and join a big tour like this. apparently there's going to be 4 stages, hopefully one will be a local stage and by "local" i dont mean the usual aussie festival bands that have already been announced.

At Warped they had a local stage which was good, hopefully its a little better than a back of a truck. The point michael made is an interesting one, though from the promoters point of view, they have to get well known bands otherwise ppl won't pay $70-$80 to bands they don't know. A balance is whats needed and maybe thats what thy're trying to. We'll just have to wait and see....

do you have any idea how much i lost my mind when i read that line up?
fucking mogwai. and sparta. and trail of dead. and dirty three. and fucking muse. and hell, i wouldn't mind seeing oasis either.
*still in a state of shock*
if those bands don't come here, then i am flying to the east coast, seriously.

Booked the airfare today.. Despite the fact that it's right between mocks and TEE, and that I really shouldn't be forking out the money for it, I'm flying to Melbourne for Livid - woo! ;D

oh yes bossman, i definately agree. From a business stand point the promoters must book well known bands for the cost of staging such an event wouldn't be matched with the takings if they didn't have big bands. So while i may have been a bit to one-sided in my comments (i was listening to the love like...electrocution cd and thinking aussie bands like them deserve to be heard rather than the same old regulars) but i really do hope that some time at one of these bigger festivals a lot of lesser known bands get a respectable chance to play. I know they wouldn't be drawcards so it'd just be for exposure which i think with all the time and money put into producing a festival, many promoters wouldn't be willing or able. i'd just like to see a good mix.
