so this has been released for quite a while now and i only just picked it up today, but better late than never eh...
admittedly i knew nothing about a lot of the songs on this release, it was recommended to me as a bit of an oz music history lesson, and it's a real eye opener to how good oz rock was back in the 70's and 80's. it's a double cd, and if you've got a spare $30 or so it'd be well worth your time. it's great song after great song, and really gives you a whole new appreciation for the music of that era, just good solid rock without any polished slick production.
the tunes:
radio birdman - burned my eye
the saints - this perfect day
the victims - i'm flipped out over you
the riptides - sunset strip
psycho surgeons - horizontal action
the leftovers - cigarettes and alcohol
la femme - chelsea kids
the scientists - frantic romantic
numbers - government boy
tactics - standing by the window
lipstick killers - hindu gods [of love]
fun things - when the birdmen fly
the passengers - face with no name
the visitors - brother john
the birthday party - happy birthday
laughing clowns - sometimes
flaming hands - i belong to nobody
sunnyboys - love to rule
sekret sekret - new king jack
pel mel - no word from china
makers of the dead travel fast - tales of the saeghors
sardine v - sudan
do re mi - standing on wires
the scientists - we had love
the moodists - the disciples know
the triffids - beautiful waste
x - half way round the world
lighthouse keepers - ocean linter
the moffs - another day in the sun
died pretty - ambergris
the eastern dark - julie is a junkie
the new christs - no next time
ups and downs - the living kind
ed kuepper - also sprach the king of euro-disco
bamboos - with which to love you
wet taxis - sailors dream
thug - dad
venom p. tinger - walking about
god - my pal
the mark of cain - lords of summer
