at the risk of a] sparking a bit of debate or b] being ignored completely, what do you think of amiel's new single?
she's getting some heat about "selling out" because she's cut a video/recording which replaces the word fucking with stupid... i'm interested to know what other people think. if selling out is unashamedly commercializing your music in an attempt to gain profit, is that what she's done? or is she just smart and savvy enough to realize that it's quite the sweet little ditty, and could rake in some dollars if the naughty word disappeared?

yeah, why not? an artist still has to support herself if she wants to keep doing it.

At the risk of sounding like a cynical bitch.... I don't think she sold out. I don't think she was in a position to sell out. I don't think Amiel has ever NOT been a commercial artist....I know she's been a singer / songwriter forever (whatever that means these days) but for chrissake, Josh Abrahams produced her (yet to be released) record, she's on the top pile of FMR's "To Do" list! The decision to cut a radio friendly version of the would not have been made by her. The whole release is a clever (albeit blatantly predictable) marketing ploy. Juxtapositioning a sweet little ditty along with Amiel's baby face and the NAUGHTY WORDS "another fucking love song" gets her play on the "National Alternative Youth Network". Changing the NAUGHTY WORD over to "stupid" gets her play on Video Hits. Having said that, I quite like the song. i'm gonna miss you.

i don't think there's anything wrong with having a radio friendly version and anyway didn't radiohead do the same thing with 'creep'? instead of 'so fucking special' it became 'so very special' i doubt many accused them of selling out anyway music is a business, it's gotta sell somehow and it needs to be on the radio to sell
the song is so fucking annoying but, gets stuck in my head allllll day after i hear it once.

i dont like the "stupid" version. sounds like shes holding back. seems the word fucking can do a lot for a song. just cause its a stronger word.
someone fill in the gap... "I just ... made another fucking love song"
maybe im going crazy but i dont know what she said when i heard it today.
