Ok, can someone please explain to me the point of paying up to $76 (which is sitting on now.. bound to go higher by the looks of it) for a promo for an album that's going to be out in a few weeks? I mean I can kind of understand why people pay larger amounts of money for rare singles and stuff (not that I've ever done that *cough*), but when it's just a promo? Is it just the fact that's it's rare? Someone explain it to me, please. Meh. I think I might stop now because chances are it's someone on here that has the high bid on it.

i agree....i feel sorry for the person who gets it, although they can say that they "heard the album before it was released", they'll have to spend a shitload of money on it and either way the promo will be going on ebay a few weeks after the album has been released for about 1/8 of that price.

True, but the auction ends in a couple of days, by the time they get in contact with the seller, send the money, and get the disk to them the album will either be out or just a couple of days away! Madness I tells ya. But each to their own I guess.

shows that there are some people willing to pay that for a promo, i wouldnt do that to a band i like and have respect for. however if i did have a bad bands promo or rarity im sure id likle to make some money on it, i know people that make a fukn good living by doing this.

The thing that 's me off is that it's most likely someone who works at sony and already makes tonnes of money. Chances are that they do it for every 'big' album that gets released.... Sorry, but aren't they supposed to be supporting the artists not ripping them off

i do collect all jebs stuff promos/vinyls everything and i have a fair collection now. I have paid a reasonable amount for things in the past that i think were worth it. However i havent put a bid on this one cos i think at this stage its not worth it and more copies will be floating around later on for less. It is correct that whoever is selling the item is smart and cashing in on the fact the album isnt out yet, but as they say buyer beware.
some poeple just cant wait lol

I paid alot of money for my copy of Jebs LATW - but it was only last year i brought it off ebay and had been around for a couple of years. i try and shop around for my cds to get the best price possible - either on ebay or red eye but star machine and LATW are the only jebs promos i have.

I hope the person who buys the promo, goes and buys the album as well. I know i would. I've got nothing against promos, but i think its a bit tacky putting the thing on ebay b4 the album is released, it doesn't show much respect for the band. If you are in melb, the Camberwell record fair is a good place to go for rare stuff, there's this one guy who specialises in hard to get cd's and he usually has some interesting jeb items...
