thats the official aria chart thingee. george grabbed top spot...good on em nice to see two tops aussie bands in the top 10 8 is a pretty good effort isnt it? is that better or worse than what the record dudes wouldve wanted?...hmm i dunno if theres any record company bigwigs on this board to fill me in.

if i remember correctly the aria chart is determined b4 the cd is even realeased i used to werk at sanity wen cold chisels reforming cd was out and b4 it was even released we knew that it was goin to be no 1 on the chart because of pre release orders and i cant remember but i think the chart is based on sanity's sales only not sure but its a feeling

well then if thats true, even though i dont like sanity, its good to see that heaps of people pre ordered their copies. Thats really strange though if the charts are taken from sanitys sales.

i doubt its just sanity's sales that determine it..

i'm not entirely sure about this, but i think that the ARIA charts are determined by number of copies ordered by stores (or shipped by record companies??), not particularly the number of copies sold...although I've got a feeling that their system has changed and it may no longer be this way..i'm really not sure. I think they take their information from 500+ stores, but it's certainly not fool proof...Aria charts aren't exactly rig-free. Although It's better than stores like sanity, who have their own charts which are rigged to cater for their market.
To be honest I'm a bit dissapointed with the Jebs charting at 8...although i congratulate them, i just thought that it would've done a bit better....Of Someday Shambles debuted at #2 only behind Savage Garden, and i think it went gold on release. Although the pre-order concerts would've helped that out a bit...But yeah, after looking at some of the other bands that've charted above Jebs this week (many with albums that've been out for quite some time) I was a bit dissapointed. Anyway, well done to George and their marketing team, etc. Good to see the band finally getting some recognition/

i dunno if anyone here was at the george instore (it was actually outside) at jb hifi last friday, but they had both sanity and jb out there competing for sales of the album. people from both stores were walking around trying to sell the album to onlookers at the low low price of $14.90. so that was quite funny to watch before the band started.
yeah so thats gotta help your sales...its a pretty good situation for a band to have two stores concentrating on selling your album.

Ah, that was classic.. I walked into JB Hifi about 2 hours before it started and they were charging $19.95 for it, then walked down to Sanity where they had a big sign saying "Polyserena - $14.95 at Sanity, $19.95 at JB Hifi", and by the time I walked back to where the stage was there were people from JBs walking around outside flogging it for $14.90. Hehe. Well I thought it was amusing at least..

Sanity isn't part of Aria so their sales don't count. Aria is what the shops buy, not what goes through the register thats why shit groups like Scandulus do so well (well they used to, whatever happened to bardot?) No.8? not as good as No.2. I don't think sony promoted this album very well whcih is a shame cause its so good....

has anyone else caught the ad on tv for it yet? sony are obviously spending a bit of dough...it was on during the 6.00 simpsons which is probably sort of an expensive time slot.
anyway the ad is very snazzy
