I realise a lot of you hate me. Regardless, my band has some mp3s up at www.mp3.com.au/ofanaesthesia. We would love some feedback and constructive critiscism on these (not just slagging off) on how to improve sound etc. Thanks. |

It's not too bad.
There's some nice instrumental motifs there. First off I thought that some of the instruments could do with a bit more unity but that was before I listened to the piece all the way through, it got much better. I'm not sure about the vocals though, although I thought the instruments fit together there seems to be (well to me any way) too much contrast between the vocals and the instruments. A bit of contrast is fine but at certain stages it just seemed as if the vocals needed a bit more variety to liven them up a bit and they are occasionally drowned out. Yeah, my main deal would probably be with the vocals but so far I've only had time to listen to it once through, to critisie or comment on a piece of music it would really require more listens.

the vocals were nice but not varied enough, i realise that's the style but the vocalist needs to vary his expression a lil bit at some points.
i liked the percussion.
'119 ways to change the colour of the sky' (awesome title by the way!) was a bit too drawn out.
'so you wanna change the world' was my fave, i think the conflict worked well there.
but i'm just some loser on a computer, i don't know much

It's hard to bring life to a piece that's recorded on a ghettoblaster from the 80s though.

nah, Trombones shit all over Trumpets but as far as brass in bands go, someone should kill them. I nearly joined a ska band once, what was I thinking. REAL music is made by guitars. What's wrong with stoners? Ok so they can get annoying always talking and promoting the dope but they can also be funny. How obvious is it that I haven't hung around any lately?

119 Ways - has a good melody to it, but like TLCM said, the vocals needed to be a bit more 'livened' up. Has a really nice tune to it, my only discrepancy was with the vocals.
Haven't had the opportunity to listen to the others yet.
And kazoos rip the shit out of trumpets and Trombones combined! ;D

drugs are fucked. pot = instant dickhead. someone i was talking to once described the reason for their use of pot and acid, along with why they didn't drink alcohol, as follows. "When you drink alcohol, everything is dulled, all your senses..it's just black and white. But taking weed or acid is like an out of body experience. Your whole perception is changed and you get to see things from a whole different viewpoint. It can be real mind opening." Now i dont take pot or acid or any other illicit drugs, but it did make me believe that this person isn't just doing it to be cool or anything. The fact that they dont drink because they dont like the sideffects of it, proves that. I still say the kind of people who skip classes at school to smoke are fucked up. Many people i know are stoned 24-7 and they just lose their personality. But i do believe there's times when the use of such drugs can be justified or atleast shouldn't be looked down on. |
