Ok, "Minute" and the "new song" (both as referred to on setlists) are seperate songs.
If I recall correctly (I'm not gonna dig through the flyers, tickets, and setlists I've nabbed over the years...) "Minute" was on setlists prior to #3's release.
"new song" (the new song that was first played at the Matt O'Connor Benefit gig if I'm not mistaken) is not recorded as of yet. It's gonna be for the next album. apprently, so, at least, at the moment, it's a live-only song.
The cover would probably be The Buzzcocks' "Everybody's Happy Nowadays", which has been played since (once again, if memory serves me correctly) at the WAMI Opening Show, 2002, and has hung around in the setlists ever since. They also played Pace It and Redhead (both Magic Dirt covers) at that gig.
A couple of tracks were recorded for (at the time) a "dirty little EP" (if memory serves), that I guess evolved into Gleesides and Sparities. These were recorded in Perth a couple of days before the WAMI show. Since "Minute" has been getting airplay on JJJ, that's the new Jebs original on Gleesides, which means the "new song" (as it doesn't even have a title as of the Rosemount gig, and therefore is pretty new, and likely not yet recorded), is probably for the next album, and is the only track that has been performed for public out of the songs that Jebs have probably written since the last tour. Ness said to me at the Amplifier (at The Ha Ha's gig for SLAM I think...) that they had been writing some new stuff.
Feasably, the new cover on Gleesides could be either Magic Dirt's "Pace It" or "Redhead", or The Buzzcocks' "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" but since only the latter has been put into the setlist (as the encore, too), I'd have to say that it's gonna be The Buzzcocks.
Any thoughts? Official confirmation?

Ok, here's a confirmed tracklisting folks. 01 Minutes (new track - #3 era IIRC) 02 Monument (Leaving Home) 03 Television Lies (Fall Down) 04 The Less Trusted Pain Remover (Animal & Split) 05 Pace it (new Magic Dirt cover) 06 Tracksuit (which version??) 07 Clint (Harpoon - Something For Kate cover) 08 Weekend Away (Military Strongmen) 09 Hey Presto! (Fall Down) 10 Bosco (Jerks of Attention) 11 Supposed to Say (Animal) 12 Jerks of Attention (I assume the old single version) 13 Smiler (Twtich) 14 Closing Time (Nothing Lasts Forever) 15 Ski Trip (Harpoon) 16 When the Generals Talk (Midnight Oil cover for tribute CD) 17 Thought About it (Leaving Home - live demo version) 18 Big Beer Wall (Of Someday Shambles "zero" track)
Shame about the lack of a Buzzcocks cover. mebbe later, eh guys?
Can't find any cover art yet either. Meh.
Still, Minutes should be cool, as well as Pace It. Pity Redhead only got performed once...
Release: January 20 for around $25 or less.

I dunno dude. I mean, I reckon the Teflon Non-Stick Mix shoulda been on there. limited to 200, radio only, and on vinyl.
Wonder if its the Odway sessions version of tracksuit... I just got a new copy of the Japan Odway. LOL.
The single version of Jerks is a no brainer, but I mean there has some be some other stuff that hasn't been out on singles, like the Duran Duran track or the It's Raining Men cover...
I mean, the CD sounds cool, but I guess I just wanted more. Like a Buzzcocks cover.
Still, I'll be spending the cash come Jan 20th. It's an effort to get some rarer stuff out.
And I can't help wondering... When still active bands start putting out compilations with a little new material (ala Green Day...) doesn't it use up an "album" as far as record contracts go? ie: with Jebs putting this out meybe they owe Sony one less "real" album... I can't imagine Jebz were too happy with Sony about October. Not even a video clip like Star Machine got (both being the final single/radio single from their respective albums). I'm also questioning sony's marketing of #3... there had to be a change in plan as early stuff (posters, samplers, stickers, etc) really push If You Want It, and Yesterday When I Was Brave (which I'm sure was going to come out as an EP...) whereas the NDC street team sampler was the 3 singles, blatic ballet, and yesterday.
Wonder what happening with sony and #3. Very weird happenings indeed.

eh that seems ok , im gunna buy it, since it is released 4 days before my birthday but of course since this board is full of bitching, i might as well bitch i probs would not have put fall down singles on there, because im pretty sure all of us would have the falld own single, since that wsa the first recording in 2 years and the first single off the new album, so im pretty sure everyone would have it, i probs would have stuck with the singles and stuff off 1 and 2..... but whatever is on it, ill get it, cause im good, and they put monument on there, and althrough i already have it, i like that song, so i will get it again I made a "rare jebs" cd once apon a time, i will put the track list for that up laters PS. dont sue me... i like jebediah PPS. The jerks of attention song on there could well be the fast version of it....

I'm back without an insult this time - but this will be my final post so I thought I'd leave you with some words of wisdom. Discussion of business marketing is kinda insulting (yes, it's an INDUSTRY, yes it's PUBLIC, but yes, it's also kind of like asking PEOPLE you DON'T KNOW AT ALL - Millhouse you're slightly excepted - - what they earn, and why they earn it, which is just darn rude).... But I digress. There are a couple of people who post on this board who are far more qualified than I to comment on your allegations. I won't mention names, as that too, would be rude. But I digress once more... Does anyone remember what murmur did to silverchair when they jumped ship after delivering three albums of a four album contract? That's right boys and girls, a "Best of The B - Sides" album, pumped out faster than insults from aaron. And one would probably be right...although rude....in assuming that the standard murmur (well, Sony now) contract would apply to artists signed at the same time....SFK, Ammonia....and...... But hey, what would I know? I'm just a dumb kid.

Hey, at least debates about record company protocol is slightly better for newbies to see than "dickspank" and "cockface" throughout the boards.
I just remember reading about the Green Day theory, which made a lot of sense.
The difference between "Gleesides" and 'chair's "Best of - Vol. 1" (including whatever versions Sony are pumping out like Silverchair are going out of style (2 disc with Rarities, Single Disc, Single Disc + DVD, Rarities), is that Gleesides has new recordings on it.
New material would, in my eyes, definately have more importance (as far as contracts go), than material that has already been recorded and released (and depending on contracts - owned) by the record company.
It's the difference between burning a mix disc with tracks you already own on it, or burning a mix disc with tracks that you might not own.
Sarmon: feel free to email me at filmmker@iinet.net.au as your post has confused me thoroughly.
Just to finish: I don't care what Jebs (or anyone else in the industry for that matter) earn, or why they earn it, I was just thinking about releases/contracts/etc, certainly without any relevance to $$$.
How much money anyone earns doesn't affect fans, what label bands are signed to does. Not that it really should mean anything, but its an area where fans might have a valid interest in, unlike what people earn.
