I need recomendations!! Now that i am going to Tafe in the city 3 days a week, i have a 2 x 45 minute train ride in which i need to kill time on. I could do my homework but it's too hard trying to balance my folder and belongings on a packed peak hour train.

hey phoebe, don delillo is great... try 'libra' or 'white noise'. a friend of mine has read heaps of his books though and reckons they're all good, so whatever you can find... it's cliched and predictable but if you haven't read 'high fidelity' by nick hornby then you must, it's funny as shit and just generally an awesome read. 'post-mortem' by patricia cornwell is good too. hope the tafe deal goes well

my favourite author is jeffery eugenides...so id recommend "the virgin suicides" by him..but hes written a new one called "middlesex"..it won the recent novel prize for novels! (haha..a minor achievement...) might not be your cup of tea..but hey..give it a try anyway. umm if you havnt read any of these yet id really recommend them too: catcher in the rye, the belljar, one flew over the cuckoos nest, the colour purple. um yeah the classics basically if i think of any more ill give you a holler...

I haven't read any fiction lately, there is no time to read these days. The last books I've looked at were Damned Whores and God's Police by Anne Summers and A Convict History of Australia (or something along those lines) by Lloyd Robson, if I was you I wouldn't bother reading either of them.

What type of books do you enjoy?? Crime? Fantasy? I been reading "Magician" by Raymond E.Feist. Major fantasy, imagination book. Lots of wizards, dwarfs, goblins, other life forms etc etc. I found it really stimulates your imagination and can really picture in my head whats going on in the book.. So yeh. If you're into that kinda stuff, Raymond E.Feist is a great author.

tully by paulinna simmons is awesome i hate to say it but i hated that book... if you like fantasy the wheel of time series by robert jordan is good, and there's 10 books in it so it'll take you a while, lol... if not... mm the bell jar is good, yes, and for some reason I've taken a recent liking to Tim Winton

i thought i'd resurect this coz books really are the shiznit aren't they? well they're my solace at the moment, good break from the study. for my b'day i got a book of the ghost world comics, which is, of course, tres cool i also got 'less than zero', brett easton ellis' (of american psyco and the rules of attraction fame) first novel. i liked it, the narration (even though it's in first person) is quite detatched - i mean there's no real emotional attachment, there's two shocking incodents but the rest of the sex drugs etc doesn't really shock because of they way it's just casually natural for the characters. i'm about to start 'choke' by chuck palahniuk (fight club), heard it's good - anyone read it? so peoples....post your recomendations, comments etc...

I am reading a book called Rouge Nation which is about the reasons why the US really shouldn't have been surprised about Sept 11th. It's a bloody good book, I wish it could be given free to everyone that reads the Sunday Times.

"Survivor" ~by Chuck Palahniuk and the brilliant, "Ian Curtis: Touching From A Distance" which is written by his widow, Deborah Curtis. Bloody fantastic read with anecdotes and snippets from his friends and fellow Joy Division members.

... or the west, to me they are both the same damn thing, this city really lacks a good newspaper. what are you talking about? in the paper on sunday i learnt how important pink is this season, and in the tv guide from the west i learnt that having your bra straps showing is very modern...isn't that what papers are for?
