I live in a fucked up little town. Why is it so crap you say? Sydney wanted to dump their rubbish here, I kid you not, there was a massive debate and in the end the 'no dumpers' won.
Like all good little towns has a submission for the 'Splendor comes to you' competition. But this wasn't just some highschool kid getting their mates to sign a petition, no way. I first saw the petition when it was passed around my maths class, the next day it was on the front of the paper. There are copies of the forms at the local library, the Hi Fi, Cafes, the High School and about a dozen other places. It was on the front page of the paper the week after too, with even more places holding forms, the mayor is behind it, there is a guy from the council organising it, a support is good, but I think they have gone just a little over board.
Everyday I drive over a bridge, it's long, possibly about 300m and made of wood, not just support beams but the surface consists of planks. A truck fell through this bridge one day (many people have driven through the rails, the truck went through the bottom), they patched up the hole, wacked up some traffic lights and made it all one lane. When trucks do drive over the bridge you can see the planks lift up and the whole bridge moves, there is also increasing potholes and loose bolts. But don't worry, they are finally building a new bridge.
NB this is a fairly major bridge.
I get 4 or is it 2 extra UAI points for going to a disadvantaged school. I didn't realise my school is disadvantaged until this year. I have spent the whole year trying to locate a pianist to accompany me for my exams, there were non, my music teacher has accepted the task. There are no art supplies. The libraries have fuck all books, I'm doing shit on the Boer war, there are 5 books on South Africa.
My friends rely on Queer As Folk to see what gay people are like and then consider it a reliable source.
One of my friends is Thai and her and the Chinese guy in my grade make up the multi-cultural aspect.
There was a hell of alot of excitement a few years ago when a cinema was built in town.
