I didn't really mean for ppl to serve in the military, just serve the government for the equal amount of time it took to get the degree. It probably wont work but it might be a way to get more ppl into degrees which, like medicine for example, are needed. The uni's need more funding, otherwise they'll shut down courses and it'll become predominantly full-fee. It also pisses me off that private schools get gov support while state school get piss all.

hey yeah i knew that im just not very good at expressing ymself. please hold whille i do an interpretive dance to best describe my feelings... hehe. i think whats most needed is doctors in rural areas. in fact everything is needed in rural areas. i have a reall bee in my bonnet at the moment about the teenge curfew thing (towns attemtping to implace them) pisses me off to the max. i know women who are like thirty and like cry over jjj justt cos of the good stuff they do in rural vic and the stuff theyd di when these women were young and living rural. the gov. arent doing too good on promoting medecine w/ thjeir wehpole bulk billing thing so i odnt think anythingpoitive is gonna happen in that area toosoon. private shools shouldnt get any government support. like at ALL. and its absolute bullshit that they do. like with this whole literacy and numeracy tests for years 7s(this might be only vic. but i think its all of aus). if they took the money for doing the test and used it for say, employing teachers, i think kids literacy and numeracy would do much better. the way young people in this country are treated is such bullshit. wait til their old and we dont give them aged care and they bitch about that. fuckers. bossman, you are awesome.

I agree that is rediculous how much money private schools get, what is even worse is how little money public schools get. I probably shouldn't whinge though, despite then fact that there doesn't seem to be enough class rooms or resources at school we do have two separate construction sites. At the moment our school office is a cramped, crowded demountable out the front of the school. The office burnt down a few years ago, now they are building a new one, they have moved the computer rooms and they are restrucuring the building to put the office at the main entrance. New computer rooms were built last year at the tafe. The other construction site is for a cafeteria. The school has also forked out shitloads on an 8ft pointy fence to stop people comming into school and preventing people coming and going, even senior movements will be restricted as all the gates will be locked so everyone will have to go through the office to get out. I hate this mew idea, thank god the gates aren't up yet. The other thing the school has recently got is two or three accoustic guitars, prior to about 3-4 weeks ago there were no guitars other than a lonely old bass.
Ok, so this might not seem so bad, but consider that non of this existed before. There are still only enough text books for 1/2 a class (until you get to yr 11 & 12) and many rooms at school are multi purpose demountables, I only have a home room for some of my subjects, the Bio and science classes have class in the Library, woodwork rooms, computer rooms etc.

yeah i also went to a private school, and i gotta say it is shocking that they get so much gov money while public schools get so little, considering that the private ones can charge high enough fees to cover their expenses and raise a profit. its pretty bad.

I went to a private school, actualy it was a catholic school. The fees weren't that bad, not like the 10 gees a year some schools charge. We got a few grants off the Federal government but nothing at all like the rich private melb schools get. Still, education is the States responsibility and with the GST and all the stamp duty that bracksy gets, you'd think vic education would be better
Did anyone come to RMIT's open day yesterday? I was working the BBQ near the physics building. The proceedes will go to a worthy cause......alcohol
