some bimbo came up to me in the street and was like "oh wow your doing the avril look! dont you just love it!" NO I DON'T!!!!!!!!! i like wearing ties cos i do not becausse i wanna look like a pop princess who ruins punk music by saying shes punk. i heard some hipster chugging bimbos on the train talking about how much they like punk and quoting avril lavringe and pink and vanessa or michelle or someone as their 'faves'. what the fuck? we were talking about it today.... it's like "punk" with inverted commas the size of skyscrapers... it's the new "in thing"... ooh i'm such a rebel, i listen to "punk" music and wear a tie... the record companies are grabbing at it, it's like the singers from TV shows, holly valance etc etc, it sells, so they're getting as much money out of it as possible before the general populace gets over the mob mentality and realises how pathetically engineered the image really is

what irritates me even more is that totally blured adolescents are blind to music genres as avril is fucking both rock and punk up because people in her target audience are too ignorant to know any different

I know what you mean about how people class Avril. I made a poll somewhere and the mod jumped down my throat because I put her in the pop catagory, not the punk. (Blink 182 got most votes for best punk band). Yes the genre thing is wrong, you can't class someone as punk just because they refuse to get their teeth bleached and wear record campany skipies. However, don't get too knocked up about catagories, at the end of the day music is music, whether it's been manipulated by industry or comes straight from the soul. It's just left to the individual to decide if they like it or not.
