I never said they were crap because they use a pick, but just that, well, it's pretty obvious that you can do more without one, and that it's more respectable because you need to build up some strength in your fingers, whereas with a pick its pretty straightforward, without any fuss.

i fail to see your point here.... we should respect Ness less because she uses a pick. I don't think the fact that any bassist uses a pick or their fingers is going to affect my appreciation of the music or the quality of the songs or even the sound if that's the kind of thing the band wants. And you can keep up the argument as long as you want because, of course, you are so talented... but I don't agree. And that's cool. I don't need to.
I dunno, I know that with guitar playing with a pick can be fairly complex, but so is picking with your fingers: it's just different. But whatever, you've got your opinions and they're not gonna change...so that was probably a pointless statement

i've played bass and i think even for those who haven't, it's [the use of a pick or not] a pretty straightforward concept to understand - god knows we've just filled a page and a half with talk about it. i don't think you're going to change anyone's mind panga but whatever, at least you stick to your opinion and don't give in when there's some heat. it amazes me you see vanessa as less talented because of something so minor [and that's the only reason i've persisted with this go-nowhere debate as long as i have - to try and figure out how you can think that], but yeah... i'll refrain from saying some cliche like "the world would suck if we all thought the same." |
