I went to see You Am I at the Newtown theatre last year and The Strokes were the support. hadnt heard about them before. They blew YAI off the stage. They were brilliant. Its a top album too.

I saw The Vines support You Am I at the Enmore last year and they were absoloutely shit There songs were really slow and the drum kept doing the same fill in every song, mind you he isn't the drummer they have now, i wonder why? Hhehehe they threw out demos into the crowd, they again were shit and i threw it out If i had hung onto it i could've made a bundle on Ebay

hehe jaymz i was at that show too.. we didn't go in til near the end of the vines' set, but i liked them a little, i could see they had some potential, even if the drummer couldn't keep a beat, like you said. i tried to grab as many demo's as possible, but only ended up with 3. i have one left and i'm selling it on ebay soon pity the vines totally suck shit now.

hello this is my first post TEXTthe last CD i bought was muse- showbiz. I have had a copy of it for two years now and it has long since become my favourite. The next CD will be Origin Of Symmetry for the same reason, also by muse, and after that I actually want the new silverchair, give it a go, for old times sake =) love from claire

ive heard muchly the same about the vines being shitehouse live You Am I tour last May with Eskimo Joe & The Vines - I think they made it to Perth, can't be sure as a little intoxicated at the time but the first act which would have been them was awful, even with alccohol - I do recall that much. Will see them in Sept and am hoping it wasn't them I saw previously and if it was hope they have greatly improved live as the album is a corker

the vines suck.
as do the strokes, white stripes, the hives and any of those new 'saviours of rock' type bands.

I couldn't agree more. I heard The Hives were actually manafacture, which made me angry. I do find The Vines tolerable though.

Ah the old saviours of rock tag, almost as old as rock itself. I seem to recall a certian person getting that title way back in '74 so nothing has changed. When will the music press realise that rock doesn't need saving. These bands are pretty good though but the music isn't groundbreaking or original stuff. Its hard to see the Hives being manufactured and being signed to a Swedish punk label.
Anyway back to the point of this thread, I got the UK 7inch of Sweetness the other day. Quite a nice find

word to that. there's plenty of bands who don't need a major label to give them their shirts and ties and stupid haircuts to 'save' rock if it ever needed saving. i got that a few weeks ago... love 'clarity' live b-side

the vines suck. as do the strokes, white stripes, the hives and any of those new 'saviours of rock' type bands. well i must suck, because i like all of those bands. and i couldn't gave a fuck what label's been attached to them. i agree that the 'saviours of rock' thing is annoying, but really, just because some stupid music reviewers have decided to attach that ridiculous cliche to a couple of bands doesn't mean people have to boycott them all because of it..i'm not saying everyone does that, but yeah..people do. and it shits me in a big way. i don't claim that these bands are the best thing i've ever heard, or the most original, or saving rock. but i do like them. a lot. and some of them can even cut it live...i know i was really fucking impressed with the white stripes at big day out, and i've heard nothing but raves reviews from some friends overseas about black rebel motorcycle club's live performances. and the strokes are rad. so just because they're over-hyped doesn't make them any less talented or whatever. it mightn't be yr cup of tea, and that's fine, but fuck listening to what the media has called them or portrayed them as. oh, and the hives aren't manufactured. and they've got two other albums out, veni vidi vicious and barely legal, along with the newest one, that date back to '97 or whatever. so yeah, check em out.
