I was really dissapointed with the OSS artwork and much prefered the design for the imported version. did any of you guys think it just didn't suit?

No actually, i much prefer the Australian artwork, it has more effort put in, i like the american artwork, but i would not go near as good as australian artwork, simply because more effort has been put in to it and that is shown in a brilliant booklet
PS. Rhys says he is the only one that says shambolic, so dont say it

I don't mind the cover of Shambles (oz), I don't have the American version to compare it with and I'm not going to go looking for it in any discography now. My only problem with the booklet was that I couldn't find the bands names in it. It doesn't matter now but at the time that was the only Jebs cd I owned and I didn't have access to the internet or anything. I'm not sure why I wanted to know who was who but I guess I felt that it was important at the time, how pathetic.

To be honest, as much as I love the oz artwork, I love the US cover. If anyone can be twatted, scan it and post the actual cover - I like it that much ;D
But the inside pics of the band for the oz version are really well done too.

The word 'shambolic' was derived from the word 'shambles' ShamblesWord History: A place or situation referred to as a shambles is usually a mess, but it is no longer always the bloody mess it once was. The history of the word begins innocently enough with the Latin word scamnum, “a stool or bench serving as a seat, step, or support for the feet, for example.” The diminutive scamillum, “low stool,” was borrowed by speakers of Old English as sceamol, “stool, bench, table.” Old English sceamol became Middle English shamel, which developed the specific sense in the singular and plural of “a place where meat is butchered and sold.” The Middle English compound shamelhouse meant “slaughterhouse,” a sense that the plural shambles developed (first recorded in 1548) along with the figurative sense “a place or scene of bloodshed” (first recorded in 1593). Our current, more generalized meaning, “a scene or condition of disorder,” is first recorded in 1926. src www.dictionary.com
i think it's fair to say that jebediah dont have dibs on it.

haha, that cricket pic is cool!
I like the US cover of shambles because it basically reflects the whole album. It is like the 'mature' cover to a 'mature' album. The oz cover is good, but doesn't reflect the content as much.
IMO.

I like the us version but the white stripe in the middle kinda ruins it, the name would have been better up the top or down the bottom. The insides of the aus version is better, the us has a photo of the band. More effort could have been done on the disc but anyway, you worry...

I didn't origially like the U.S version because it just didn't seem as creative and original, I guess I felt that it looked like something other bands might do, its a picture of clouds, wow. But I guess you're right about the whole reflection of the artwork and the album.

But the whole album isnt that mature, look at the songs like trap door, did you really, slot car racing, animal most of the album is slow but there are a number of the less "mature" sounding songs adding a bit of fun and dance to the album.... but i dunno, i like them both

Did you Really seems so mature it's Silverchair as opposed to something like Blame though. The album is refllective..I think some of that was carried on over to #3 with songs like Baltic Ballet.
