yeah i agree with michael....i normally just use downloading songs when i want to get a few tracks of a band ive heard about or i sort of liked..to see if their cd is worth getting. or if theres a rare song/bootleg recording somewhere...

I hardly ever download songs off the net. Rare tracks, maybe, but i'll usually try to find it.
I mean, music is what these people have worked for and make a living out of. But I won't buy a CD just because they are australian; only if i like the band.

I don't download music, I think I've only ever downloaded 3 or 4 songs but theres no point, I don't have a burner. I buy all my cds which is why it takes me so long to get them. I buy alot of Australian bands stuff because I like alot of bands and if I like one recording I like to get their other stuff. I don't buy stuff because it's Australian all the time but my cd collection has more Australian cds than international. This isn't some crappy, patriotic thing though, the international bands are usually bigger so I keep putting off buying the cds because there is always something that is harder to get. I always just think, "I could get this cd from Big W for $21 so I'll get [insert name] instead." That's why I mostly buy Australian stuff, and fortunately it's all good.

Nah we see ur point TLMC. Why bother buying an album if u dont like it, Now c'mon how many of us have bought an album to hear theres only 1 or 2 good tracks on it. It is worth ir if u've got a burner though.

i download from kazaa all the time, why not we dont all have heaps of money to go out getting cd's all the time most of these people have way more money than the average person they have made so much money off us from in the past when things like kazaa were not around , anyway if you really like a band you will probably go out and buy that cd to get the cover, lyrics and to add it to your cd colletion

I'm all for downloading music from the net, if its a temporary measure, a bootleg, or OOP. I mean, if I can't get hold of a track coz the CD/vinyl/whatever is OOP, then fuckit - I'm downloading it. Recent downloads include... Tim Skold's Dead God EP (leaked demos) Zwan - Mary Star of the Sea (to listen to till the CD comes out) Donnas - Spend the Night (one of my friends wanted it, and she's gonna buy the CD when it comes out) Smashing Pumpkins - Mashed Potatoes Anything from that list that will be at retail will be bought when it comes out.

I guess that's alright but say one of my friends doesn't buy cds anymore at all, she just downloads all the tracks that she likes. Also who said anything about having a shitload of money. I only get $15 a week and I can still buy cds, it's not like I buy them every week or anything. Alot of musicians don't make a shitload of money from releases either. Mabe the big named bands do but the majority of artists struggle to pay off their debts. I'm not sure what the cut is that most artists get but I'm pretty sure that it's bugger all.

im not sure whether bands do get much off the cd sales, but it counts where there is a record company involved who base their whole strategy with the band on the sales...
