here's a sort of 'press release' (but not really) thing that got posted on the BDO site message board by the moderator. it seems pretty official/confirmed, make of it what you will though.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Surprise!! Bet ya didn’t expect to see me back this early, did ya?
We're back for another year after an awesome set of shows earlier this year, I personally had an awesome time, and this years is gonna be even better!!
Anyway, enough about me, you wanna know all about the shows, don’t ya? I’ve had quite a few emails asking if a few bands are playing, but I can’t answer all of them, so sorry about that.
First of all, the show dates are:
Fri Jan 16th - Auckland
Sun Jan 18th - Gold Coast
Fri Jan 23rd - Sydney
Mon Jan 26th - Melbourne
Fri Jan 30th - Adelaide
Sun Feb 1st - Perth
Tickets go on sale Friday the 10th of October at all the usual places, more info closer to the date
I think I’m forgetting something, oh, that’s right, the bands!!
Here we go –
*After returning to top form with their latest album St. Anger, the one, the only, METALLICA will be gracing our stages, playing an unprecedented Big Day Out set of over 2 hours!!
*THE DANDY WARHOLS, after only giving us a little show of their latest album Welcome To The Monkey House, will be back here to show everyone what the buzz is about with their awesome live show
*IGGY & THE STOOGES keep things simple, loud, and brutal, nobody had ever made rock as primal as these guys.
*RANCID’s long overdue return down under sees their new album Indestructible is a return to the eclectic mix of their own breakthrough album And Out Come the Wolves
*The most exciting band to come tumbling out of Detroit, sporting grimy leisure suits and hilarious stage names, ELECTRIC 6 will splice punk, new wave, disco, and arena rock into total entertainment.
*SONIC YOUTH, having written some of the most raw punk modern music has ever heard, will be here to blow your senses away
*Unfortunately in 2002 they had to pull out, but this time we have FAITHLESS locked in and ready to go, headlining the legendary boiler room
*We gave you 1 half of At The Drive-In last year, of course its only fair to give you the other. Of course, I’m talking about THE MARS VOLTA who will be here to hypnotize more than a few people with their modern work of art.
*Fresh from their latest breathtaking effort The Official Fiction, SOMETHING FOR KATE, led by poet Paul Dempsey will be sure to captivate current fans and convert more than a few new ones.
*With the kind of voice that can cause weeks of insomnia, EVANESCENCE will be joining the tour on the back of their debut album Fallen
*The first studio offering from Geelong’s MAGIC DIRT in over three years, Tough Love, an explosive dose of power pop will be sure to overwhelm you from these Big Day Out veterans
*With all the aggression, strangeness and rock stylings that this modern day musical maniacs are known for, MONDO GENERATOR will be here to show you the meaning of rock.
*Finally, Sydney’s favourite all girl band SKULKER will be joining us for the full tour for the first time
Love Melodie
haha with a line-up that has the likes of iggy pop and the stooges, sonic youth, rancid and metallica, i forsee lots of happy faces.
