Who went to Splendor in the Grass? Was it most excellent?
The 'Splendor Comes to You' is tomorrow, although no one I know likes the same stuff as me, every one is going, mainly to see Powderfinger. They are expecting about 15 000 - 34 000 people. For a town with 12 000 people and a district population of 21 000 that is a lot of people. There are about 80 tour buses coming from as far as Canberra and Sydney. Why would you bother, seriously, you'd be paying more in transport than you would to see these bands locally, I think. Anyway, parking is a problem, they have two major designated parking zones a shuttle bus will run people from the parking areas to the park. I'm planning on leaving my car somewhere that isn't in a no-parking area or a closed off street and walking over, seems easier, I've just got to get to my spot early.
There is also a gale warning for tomorrow and my weather wary father is already concened the stage will blow away.

I went to splendour ;D Was the muddiest weekend of my entire life, at night when it was pitch black you'd step in about half a metre of mud and just have to find your leg again.
Highlights for me were: ladytron, the music (although rob is quite the ugly!), placebo , coldplay
I can't believe the attendence at Singleton was higher than Byron - goes to show Aussies are there if its a free show!

Ok, so someone can't estimate very well, either that or don't listen to rumours. There were only 16 thousand people, but that is still pretty big and it's bigger than Splendor (up to 15 000). Going towards the venue/park there were signs every where, "Rock Concert this way", I would have taken one of those signs but I had my art canvas in the boot and the backseat was covered in other crap. The stage was kind of small, however, on either side of the stage was 15 amps hanging off 2 Bower Cranes. I've never seen hovering amps before. The merch guy also told me if I ever meet Luke Steele I have to tell him something, I forgot what it was I'm suposed to tell him, I probably won't meet Luke Steele anyway so it doesn't matter.
First up was Front Foot Forward, a little local band from the High school with large egos (well, Sam the singer does anyway, but how many singers don't?) I didn't listen to them, because they are crap. Rather than huddleing around a little crappy punk band my friends and I decided to wander around (while there was still room to do so) checking out the stalls and for me, freezing my tits off (next time I will remember it is cold in winter, especially at night, take a jumper).
After a fucking huge wait Jet came on, I got really pissed off with the crowd to begin with. Jet were playing well, very well, but since alot of people didn't know the songs, they just stood there, like a bunch of stoned zombies. Eventually my friends and I decided to dance (their was just enough room to dance in) and towards the end of the set a few others decided, 'hey, I can move!'
Magic Dirt was next. Apparently they pulled out the moves, but I couldn't see, my head didn't even come up to the guys shoulders in front of me. They were good though despite Adalita's amp fucking up.
Powderfinger. Apparently one of the local radio stations advertised the event as a 'free Powderfinger show', they didn't mention Triple J or why it was on and they didn't mention Magic Dirt or Jet. Powderfinger were good, however it was just like their albums, there wasn't really any diversification (is that even a word?) but anyway, they were impressive and managed to help distract me during the encore from the drunk guy trying to crack onto me (ignor them and they go away).
My friends liked Powderfinger and Jet, they really didn't like Magic Dirt.
The people in my music class liked Magic Dirt and Powderfinger.
I liked them all. Except Front Foot Forward.

Yeah, it was free.
I was sitting at the traffic lights waiting to cross that bridge when Mel mentioned it. Also turns out I wasn't the only person contemplaiting stealing a sign.

I thought Jet were the best ;D but I enjoyed Magic Dirt and Powderfinger too, except for the fools who tried to push their way to the front then decided to stop in front of ME so I couldn't see!
