I am a massive Fourth Floor Collapse fan and think they are one of the best live acts around... I really feel they deserve to become massive, especially after you listen to all the other crap thats out there. But, do you think they will be the best ever Perth band not to 'make it' Or do you think they will.....

I would have to say that they're about to get it on in a big way. I was speaking to their guitarist on thurs night. The new album is almost finished and then they're going to be looking for a lable to pick em up. If no one does then they'll release it themselves. But according to the band members, the new album will blow us all away.

FFC will never be huge, especially in the global sence. Yes they will probably get alot bigger but never huge. They don't fit the criteria that a popular audience would ever seek. I like FFC, however they lack the more simplicity and catchiness of pop. Who would want such an audience anyway (don't take this for elitism) but these audiences aren't as respectful of music. They like the bands towards the top of the top 40. Why? Because they are told to basically, they see it on Channel V and TV Hits, they read about it in dolly and Girlfriend and listen to it on commercial radio. It's extremely superficious and based probably more on looks than music esp live abilities (I'm not saying emo/indie, or any other style/genre doesn't have it's fashions).

yeah, they deserve to be huge i really hope they do get big but it probably won't happen because they don't really fit the mould (which is a good thing!)

it's pretty screwed up if the fact that they're not doing what everyone else is is one of the reasons why they're not 'popular'. they've got a lot more appeal [to me at least] than a band like, say, jet, who are doing the whole re-hashed fuzzy rock thing which seems to be so big right now...
that said, i don't think fourth floor have the instant pop-likeability appeal that some bands do... you need to take a little time to really look into them. that's my two cents anyway.

I agree, they will never become massive (ie.worldwide) but surely they are good enough and deserved enough to pick up a major label contract...
Anyway, I think Mike's voice is amazing and couldn't you just picture him and the band belting away on 'The Panel' or something....
It's amazing what a bit of commercial exposure can do for you.
