i used to absolutely adore australian music, but i think a lot of it has gone downhill...having said that though, there's a fair few bands i do like (FFC, the panics, the fergusons, silverchair, the tigers, ten speed racer, blueline medic, gyroscope, big heavy stuff etc). but the bands i listen to the most are international acts, and the international acts that i like far outnumber australian acts.
so, in my opinion...australian music, in a general sense, cannot be compared to international music. how can you compare one country against the rest of the world? that's just damn stupid.

You cant compare some bands that you like against some that you dont and just seperate them by geographic location. There's a few bands that've blown me away..Some have been Australian (HeartFeltSelf, Love Like..Electrocution, etc), some have been international (ATD-I, Saetia, etc)...it's also the same with bands that are shit.

All of my top fave bands are australian so I would have to say that aussie music is most definitely the best. Not that all aussie bands are good, just that the best (In my opinion) are aussies.
Not sure what it is exactly but I think that it has someting to do with a more lively edge to the music.
So much international music seems to have been fixed up so much that it loses the spontenaity that I love. (or maybe it never had it, who knows.)

personally, im more into local stuff because that is what i see three or four times a week. id much prefer to sit in a cosy pub or bar and watch and support local music than pay 80 bucks for one act.

I agree with michael on this one. I don't particularly care where the band comes from just so long as the music is good. One thing that annoys me is the lack of good music on the radio. This isn't any new revelation but the situation seems to be getting worse. The should gut the entire staff at jjj and start again.
