Hi there, Firstly I would like to say I absolutely LOVE Jebediah, they are my most favourite band and they seriously rock my world. They are also the nicest bunch of people and awesome to their fans!! TOPS!!
Ok, now that is said I really need to get something off my chest. This is about the Jebs NOT playing leaving home at BDO, and possibly not again??
Kev, Chris, Ness and Brett have the best job most of us could ever hope for! playing music for a living, and rocking on to huge crowds!!! how lucky are they. The thing about every job is there are good and bad aspects, lucky for the jebs, theirs mostly consist of the latter. BUT to do this job and any job you have to do the bad with the good or you can't do it all. For example I'm sure most of the jebs would hate travelling so much, living out of a suitcase most of the time, being away from family and friends most of the year round etc. They may also NOT LIKE playing Leaving Home anymore BUT this is part of their job, and its what the fans want and they just have to play it.
Does anyone see my point, preferably the Jebs? I just couldnt belive how many people were whingeing etc cause the jebs didnt play leaving home and someone even called Channel V and had a whinge.
For a fan like me, I love all their music and am grateful just to see them again. But some fans only know their more popular songs, especially people at BDO.
well thats how I feel, So there you go. Cheers

i've had this same sort of discussion re: eskimo joe and why they don't play their 'crowd-pleasers' anymore.
i don't know the reason behind jebediah not playing leaving home so much anymore, and yes i love the song and would love to hear it more often, but i think at the end of the day - they're the ones performing, they get to pick and choose the set, i mean that's their job. it's not really an all-night request line. imagine how many times they must have played leaving home live - i'm sure they get sick of it.
nine times out of ten they're more than accomodating with the set anyway - ie. the jimmy eat world show, where star machine got ditched in favour of jerks, which some guys had been yelling out for all night.

Hey Sarah, I agree that it is the Jebs choice what they play and I'm sure if I was in their position I would be sick of playing the same song every gig by now. And all of their shows absolutely ROCK my world! so I'm definitly NOT complaining, I have been to a heap of shows and I''ll keep coming back for more forever. But I still think that Leaving Home is a must at their gigs, and surely they get a kick out of the fact that everyone sings along etc. I know we do this to other songs to, but this one gets the people in that don't even know their music. I think its to the Jebs benifit AND ours if they play it. But anyway, my comment wasn't to whinge. It was more to give reason and my point of view as to why they should play it. And I agree they are very accomodating to setlists. Rock on Jebs

I'd prefer them play a different song to 'Leaving home' (the song's great live), maybe something off twitch or a b-side. Something to add variety to a setlist instead of the same songs played again.

it's cool dude, i wasn't having a go. and believe me, i'd like to see it re-incorporated back into the set as much as the next person. it's just sometimes i think people can forget what it's like from the band's side - think about how many times they must have played that tune since 1996! but yeah you're right - it's definitely the sentimental fave with the crowds.

They should play some Gleesides shit on their next tour..it would make sense. And the fans that have been there for a while would finally get to hear the likes of bosco and CLOSING TIME live.
