well last night i saw powdies and sfk @ the hordern in sydney on the suburban fables tour. i wasnt excited at all up until thurs night when it finally kicked in i was gonna see sfk. ive seen them many times before, but i usually get really excited when i see them. anyway.... sfk were amazing, ofcourse, they played alot off echolalia (ofcourse) aswell as hallways whatever you want... and like bankrobbers!! i was hoping they would because my cousin bootlegged one of their "echo-la-la-lia" shows and the version of like banrobbers is awesome. i was completely blown away by sfk.
but powderfinger on the other hand were shit... more than shit. ive seen them twice before (splendour in the grass and on their last big tour). i couldnt believe how boring and un-entertaining they were. i found myself playing with my wristband more than actually watching the band and i was right on the barrier with an un-restricted view.
lucky sfk were good, otherwise it wouldve been $40 blown. i was thinking of going to the show on nov6 but now im not too sure because although id pay $40 to see sfk (id pay ALOT if i had to), itd be waste cause they only play for 40mins.

no solo no pinstripe they played: whatever yew want like bankrobbers monsters 3dimensions twenty years jerry stand up you only hide hallways seasick im pretty sure that was it, i cant think of anything else they played... a pretty normal setlist though. i was expecting them all, but yer - wouldve liked a solo or pinstripe or something a little different.

heheh hey Owen your post ended up on the Powderfinger site (Jess that came to SFK at Sanity with me told me not the Jess that posted it) here we are- This was posted on the Jebs message board: *** Author - paintbrushes powdies/sfk - suburban fables « on: October 20th, 2001, 4:23pm » (then all the stuff you wrote) Boring and un-entertaining my arse. Smeh. I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion. And in other news, I'm leaving for Adelaide tomorrow.. So guess I'll talk to yas all later, and see some of you at the gig on Saturday. Wohoo. ) ~ Jess then other reply's- -They're Just JELOUS!!! .:burger naa naa na naa naa queen:. -i was at the Hordern gig on Saturday night and i would have thought it was the other way round... i have seen SFK a few times, but last night they looked pretty uninterested - i was pretty disapointed in them. powderfinger on the other hand kicked arse. fantastic -it shits me that someone would be up on the barrier if they were so bored by it all. get down the back and let the ppl that want to be there be up the front. heheh Painstbrushes, your unintentionally stirring shit on the Powdies msg board!, I don't think they liked your review! I wasn't there but somehow I don't think that SFK would have been uninteresting bah! SFK rock :-) hehe I so cant wai for Channel V oh and the peoples wrote back and said that it will prob start 5 or 6?

Thursday nites melb show was awesome. SFK rocked and it was cool when paul started rubbing his guitar strings the mike. Powderfinger rocked and they played fo about an hour and a half. I guess the person who saw them in sydney caught them at a bad show, but hey its Sydney

mwhehehe how cool!! i wouldve moved so people who wanted to actuall watch the band could get in but a) i was with friends and had stuff of theirs in my bag that i had to give to them that night, and b) if the group of about 10 gerls behind me wouldve moved i woulve got out, i tried once but they wouldnt move. i was going to jump the barrier and walk around the back of the crowd and watch from there, but i couldnt be fucked doing that. hehe. i think i might go post on the powdies board now... not gonna stir up more shit. just explain myself. but sneh. powderfinger shit me more now. ohh and i liked the comeback of "theyre just jealous". what would i have been jealous of? if my band (if i had one) put on a show like that, id be embarrassed. not jealous.
bossman - that was so rock of paul (the guitar rubbing on the mic thing). he probably does it all the time i guess.

Just think yourselves lucky to see these bands. Seeing i dont live in a capital city or near one I dont have the option to see great bands like SFK and Powderfinger. We get about 3 or 4 good aussie bands up here each year. This year we have seen Frenzal Rhomb, Jebediah, and Regurgitator. I wish I could see more live bands. I think some people are spoilt with live music and are too critical.

>>And in other news, I'm leaving for Adelaide tomorrow.. So guess I'll talk to yas all later, and see some of you at the gig on Saturday. Wohoo. )<< Why the hell did you add the to my post? What is that supposed to mean? >>powderfinger shit me more now. ohh and i liked the comeback of "theyre just jealous". what would i have been jealous of? if my band (if i had one) put on a show like that, id be embarrassed.<< I'm not even going to bother responding to that comment. Fine if you don't like their music but it's bullshit saying they can't put on a good show. As I said in my other post everyone's entitled to their opinions but you don't have to make up crap just because you don't like a certain band. Jess Probably shouldn't be replying in my current overtired jetlagged state but fuck it.

I still love Powderfinger, dont get me wrong, but theyve lost a lot of the energy and on-stage presence that they had a few years ago when "Internationalist" was realeased. I saw them at a gig just after Internationalist hit the shelves, and they were fantastic - jumping around and getting into it, even changing words to their songs and stuff like that, conversing with the crowd - a bit of interaction... but then, i had the misfortune to see them at the 2000 BDO... it was very stuffed shirt kind of affair. The "We play - you listen" kind of gig. No fun. No thrill. No interactions.
Its about this time when I start thinking of that horrible two syllable two part word...
