The Globe was pretty packed when my and my friends got in just after Gyros must have finished, leaving us with the beautiful double-header of Jebediah and Jimmy Eat World.
Just the details on Jebs here folks. I'm not a big JEW fan, not to say that I don't like them, but I haven't trolled the depths of they back catalogue yet. Soon tho, especially after tonite. I'll leave the JEW comments to someone who knows them better.
Anyway, Jebs setlist is as follows
10:00pm-10:45pm
01 . Eveready
02. Animal
03. Yesterday
---------------------
04. Harpoon
---------------------
05. Worlds Away
---------------------
06. Please Leave
---------------------
07. Teflon
08. Jerks of Attention
09. Star Machine
10. N.D.C.
Okies folks - Star Machine got shitcanned when someone in the front row requested Jerks and Ness had a word to Kev, and ... so that was a nice surprise.
Jebs had an energy I haven't seen from them in ages. Not to say that they are usually slack, but right off the bat, I knew this set was gonna rock, and shit - when Harpoon is rock'd up, it sounds great!
Ness' damn phaser (really obvious in the studio version of Number One) has crept into Animal now as well. Sometimes I dig it, othertimes I don't...
Kev broke the strap on his guitar during a track (can't remember which... anyone?) and Fergus played again during NDC, leaving Kev to climb the right speaker stack in the Globe. Very unique indeed
Worlds Away is sounding great. Pity the next album is gonna be a helluva long way off, and Teflon was the same as played elsewhere recently - the intro'ing the band interlude, etc was used.
Kev looked a little frustrated that all the crowd were doing was nodding their heads, but by the end of it, everyone was rocking along solidly. Honestly tho - at the start you would have thought Jebs were playing "Closing Time" or a pan-pine-only version of "Inna-gadda-da-vita" by the reaction from the crowd.
All up - top gig, definately worth the cash, and shit - if this is how Jebediah play for a support slot, I wanna see more of it.
Oh - and Kev stated that "Worlds Away" was a working title, so I guess that might change. Still - it's better than "new song" on the setlist, I guess.
