It was a beautiful sumemr day when i meet sam (armon swank) in year 8, in my new group room, he liked jebediah a lot and tole me to listen to his cd of slightly odway he had of them, i thought what the hell, even through i liked the spice girls and were not really into the whole "real music, real rawk" scene. I put it in my cd player and instantly i was digging leaving home. Suddenly the birds in the trees were chirping and the sun was gleaming down on my back, i enjoyed it soooo much i went straighti nto K-mart and purchased my very own copy for $19.95, my first ever cd purchase.
I started to listen to the cd through when i was drifting to sleep that night, and feel asleep half way through 'harpoon'. The next day i listened to the cd through again and harpoon came along. At this time i was playing super mariokart on Super nintendo, but i stopped it to listen to this song, the one that i have had as my favorite song of all time ever since that day, so brillantly put together, the words and the music both come together like glue. the lyrics were the first thing to hit me, i had never heard anything that made me feel so emotional before, the words used were just perfect for the music, which i began to listen to more carefully as the listens continue. this became a repeated song for about 2 weeks of my life, until finally i decided to give the rest of the album a decent listen through, i got to puck defender and started to jump around, and pretend i was in fact Sir Kevin Mitchell of jebediah, and the hopes and dreams that someday i would be in a band like jebediah, playing my music came into my head, then they were dashed when sam commented "your shit", it really did put me back into place and what i was actually thinking. The whole album begun to hit me, and i went through patches in which every song went through a repeat stage, but one, la di da da really did grab me hard, i really liked it. at first it was just the comedy of "la di da da" being sung over and over but then i found the lyrics in the verse to be actually pretty nice and brilliant. Spoil the show was one of the last songs that i went through the phase of listening to over and over, and with the new album to be released shortly after this stage in my life, i was really hoping for something like the lyrics involved in this song, and thats just what pretty much happened. Top songs of the album - Harpoon, Puck defender, spoil the show, blame, la di da da
one monday in Media in year 9, someone brought in a copy of "Of someday shambles" Nads and myself walked in the backroom "working" on a project, in seriousness we were listening to shambles, we listened to thefirst 5 songs of the album, and the one that really grabbed me was Star machine. Also in this short listening, before we were caught, i heard big beer wall, the owner of the cd had heard about it pretty much as soon as it was released. At this stage of my life, the $5 pocket money i was earning a week really wasnt giving me a chance to buy the cd, instead i burnt it (dont sue, read on), but after a month and a half i had enough to buy it, and not only it, the double cd limited edition version with the bonus computer disc. i was really happy with my purchase, even through i had to pay a shitload extra as i got it from MYER. Skin became a new favorite song when i got it home, i really did enjoy the softer, but yet still boppy song. feet touch the ground then was beautiful, after i actually read what it was about, it really was brilliantly made, great song to listen to, and brilliant brilliant lyrics. Next along came 'run of the company' which took a little bit to get into, but once it is in, it is one of the best songs, accompanied by an orchestra, i have ever heard. this song also gave me my most beautiful cd listening moment ever. After being told by someone to plug in a pair of large headphones 9the ones that go over you whole ear) turn it up pretty loud, turn the light off, lay down and close your eyes, my mind was totally blown, it was the best thing i have ever done when it comes to music. Favorite songs of this album - Star machine, skin, run of the company, in orbit, love at last.
Following this purchase, i found both the 'harpoon' and 'twitch' ep's in Sanity, both for $10, so i purchased both and took them home, the songs on each were brilliant, and showed how the jebs had gone from really pop rock, through to fun pop rock, through to the more mellower jebs, through to songs about heartbreak. in which, i loved every single song. On twitch, Ferris wheel, well that really is a really good happy song, something you can dance around to at a party and producing a sing along. smiler, another song to sing to, and superhero, the start really does show how its gunna pan out, something you can tell the jebs had fun producing. Harpoon, well its great from just the title track, but covers of something for kates 'clint' and flock of seagulls 'I ran', some of the best covers i have ever heard produced from a band before, bring the harpoon ep into a great ep of the 90's.
A moment from the harpoon EP happened in a media class back in the year 2000, where a substitue teacher, one we refer to as 'booko' (bulldog lady) was shiting myself and nads (i_h8_jebs_ off pretty bad and yelling for pretty much the full hour, so we repeated the " im sorry" part from 'im sorry' over and over until she took the cd for the rest of the lesson.... yep we were bad arse's
After purchasing every single that is out of jebs, i purchased the 'jebediaries' VHS from Sanity the day it came out, Sam and myself grabbed it straight fromt he box and went back to his house for some very big laughs at the mischeif the jebs got into, and enjoyed the music clips in between the songs.
Once again jebediah got me into trouble at school, in which i took jebediaries to a history class with Rob, a history class in which we were watching a history movie about germany i think. the teacher the left the room for a breif moment, but enough time to exchange the tapes and put jebediaries on. The teacher had no idea until about 3 minutes into the film, but oh boy, we all had a bit of a laugh.
GO ON TO PART 2!

in 2002 Jebediah - Jebediah was released to mix reactions from the jebs fans, i think the major thing that i did not like about the new album was the production of the cd, and as with sam, i feel that it feels to hollow. The songs that i loved straight away, nothing lasts forever, a beautiful song that i very much liked, and also liked the film clip, when not many others really enjoyed it. the soft rainforest and beach scenes really do sum up the song, anything exciting would take away from the feeling the song gives out, so in that point i really like the film clip. NDC was pretty much the first song i really enjoyed, singing along to Kev at rockalonga before the new album was out "screw education, get on the dole, give it up for rock and roll" where no one else knew the words was a good moment in my life, and when it was released on the cd, wasnt to bad at all, i only ever got to see the film clip once on rage, it wasnt shown to much on channel V (too rapped up in fall down) but the one time i saw it, i enjoyed. Yesterday when i was brave.... i dont exactly understand why this wasnt put at the end of the cd, as it is the epic, and in general jebediah talk, the long song goes at the end, plus it gives a finally feel out but oh well, still a brilliant song that i enjoyed watching and singing to at the big day out Melbourne 2003. You want it and balltic ballet, two songs that i like eqaully as much, they really do give out a happy sense about them, something that can be easily listened to if your by yourself, or with a couple of jeb fans alike. October, well what can you say about october, wasnt released as a single, but a promo, and probably should have been given the credit of a single but well maybe it is better that it stayed just on the album, so it wont get as big, and there wont be hype about it, so it wont fade out, like fall down.
I had to bring up fall down for all you people who associate Josha with fall down. I first heard this little song live at the pines and absolutly adored it, really really good stuff i thought, maybe a bit of the old jebs coming back through, and was sooo happy when it was about to be realeased as the first single off jebs new album, the first release fromt he jebs in 2 or so years. The day it came out, i once again go them to get it out of the box as soon as i saw the guy walk in with it, and i instantly put it on my cd walkman in the park. My first listen to it i didnt mind, but as i listened to it more the bag pipes became irratating and i felt it could have sounded better with just chris's guitar doing the lead. Hey presto became my favorite song on the single, which was played over and over. Favorite songs off the self titled album - nothing lasts forever, ocotber, yesterday when i was brave, country holiday song, you want it
Gleesides and sparities... jebs latest release, a fantastic mix of songs including the new minutes and cover of pace it. I have always found jebs b-sides brilliant and up there with the best stuff they have produced, but i will go into that a little later. I was happy that songs like monument got a play, and bosco, but was a bit upset that hey presto and television lies both got on it as the fall down single is just new and songs like closing time, or better of tiems worse of times didnt get on, but then again just because fall down has just been released doesent mean that that should exclude those songs, but in all i enjoy this release from jebs a lot, its been in the cdp layer a fair few times in the past couple of weeks since i have had
B-sides, songs like monument, better of times, worst of times, closing time, slow down, thought about it etc etc, all FANTASTIC songs that could have been on the albums, but as there is a space limit on albums, which means they cant have a couple more good songs on the albums which are already filled with brilliant songs. in the end i feel that jebs have had a nice range of songs on there records and albums and the release of gleesides and sparities really does help not waste these brilliant songs
Live jebediah is one of the best things about the band, i have seen this band 6 or 7 times (which is pretty good for someone that lives in a country town that jebs have only been to twice. there live shows have an awesome feeling around them and give out a feeling of fun and excitement, which always gets the crowds going and keeping warm.
In all Jebs, you are simply the best fucking band in australia and i dont think there will be another one as good from this country for a long long time, if a band can keep its fans happy live and recorded, you know your doing something right. You guys should be getting a lot more credit and appreciation then whatyou guys get, but the true fans on here know what should happen, and we are grateful of your music
keep up the good work
Josha Ps. Heath im pregnet :\

OSS - Best Australian Rock album of all time, and SO is right up there. Number 4 has a chance, if they've learnt from 3. It coudl be brilliant, I'd love an expansion on the moody-ness of shambles. But also some of hte rock (ie. trapdoor, slot car racing, in orbit.)

I started getting into jebediah back in'97 when Odway came out. At that time, I was starting to look outside the top40 (ie Fox fm) and realised that there were better music out there. So I guess they opened my eyes. I first saw them live at this youth week thing at the metro in '99 and they blew me away.

I got into the jebs after hearing shambles, and just loved listening to that album...then and now. All their music is really good, and they are all talented musicians in their own right.

insane, I can't for the life of me write 1000 words on Eliot's poetry...mmm Eliot vs Jebediah... measured my life in coffee spoons.... the key to doing a lit essay is blabbing. oh, that and making up words (this actually works...i think i made up the word "pretrogany" in an essay...they didnt notice). dont complain about doing 1000 words! in my lit class, for one set of "worksheet questions" ( : we got, i wrote 10,357 words....and i did the minimum you could do for that thing.

jerks of attention first got me into jebs. jjj was playing it so i thought i would go and get the single, go down the the local record shop in bassendean, but they dont have it on cd i am forced to buy a TAPE i know it was strange. i get it home and play it over and over again. the guys i live with are about to kill me and they hide the tape. can you believe it? i eventually find it . from then on it was jebs all the way for me. i first saw them live at some uni place and it was the best they had just about as much energy as me they rocked ,and they still do and the guys i live with had to listen to all the jebs albums from then on , funny i still drag them to all the jebs gigs with me now , so i got them a few more fans just by thrashing the cd at home love you jebs
